What's 'off' , the car , or the alarm system? Any circuit 'draw tests' done to isolate it?
The alarm system incorporates the Body module, Powertrain module, and keyless entry. Turning the alarm off does not shut down these modules. I would recommend a draw test to determine the source. If it is within the alarm system, I would recommend repairing as it cannot be easily bypassed. Let me know if you would like to have it checked. Just found this blog- have same issue with my 2004 Viper, but it also has a Viper installed security system. Since I drive mine sparsely, I always had to remove battery and recharge. Bought Optima battery to solve issue which prolonged problem. Finally installed a kill switch. Crude but problem solved.
The car and the alarm are off. I have a dead battery. The dealer is telling me that the security system is always searching therefore using a lot of power. I don't believe him. Confused.
The dealers diagnosis makes no sense. The alarm system does not search causing it to use power. It operates on a preset protocol. What is their recommended remedy?
