Open the hood, start the car, and watch to see if one of the pulleys is not turning. It sounds like you have either a bad idler pulley (cheap), or a bad bearing in your alternator (not so cheap). Best of luck.
Sounds to me more like the alternator. Which is not cheap but labor isn't that much.
Howdy Star City neighbor, .. It's *possibly* the belt, engine coolant or other fluid leaking onto the belt, improper belt tension, an alternator or even another belt driven accessory problem... However without the vehicle present for visual inspection and hands-on testing.. It is impossible to be sure... While 'Internet' suggestions are certainly inspirational, they do little good as far as actual repair. Your best bet is to have it check out by qualified personnel... Now that may be a friend that's car savvy or local auto repair shop... Good luck with it!
