As long as the label on the oil bottle says it meets the 'specs' for your engine , then that's all you need. You will get lots of OPINIONS on this , but I'm driving a '95 Camry with 368,574(todays odometer reading) and it's almost always had cheap store (advance or autozone or NAPA brand 10-30 in it. Run the dog-piss out of it every time i'm driving it! Minimum commute 120 miles a day 5 days a week.only thing I add is every 10K or so I add a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil when it's low , or in place of a quart of regular oil , if i'm changing the filter too. And I only use Toyota oil filter , not cheap aftermarket (that is where I draw the line).
Thanks for answering my question. Could you tell me what the difference between 5w30 and 10w30...Should I use a synthetic oil? or just a name brand oil? I sure would love for my car to last as long as yours does...I wanna know all the secrets.
the only difference between 5w30 & 10w30 is the 'viscosity' rating. google 'viscosity' for more complete definition (I would just say its' thickness') at cold start. Colder climates generally would have you use the thinner(5w30) for quicker circulation at start-up. IF you stick to fairly regular intervals 3-4K miles or 3 months between oil changes , then I would say don't waste your money on synthetic oil. Just use the best quality filter available -MOPAR or NAPA gold/WIX ......Since nobody else is replying , yet , I guess my OPINION is all you got so far (from this site at least) Good luck , enjoy the ride !
