Pull the valve covers and see if your rockers are off, broken valve spring or valve guides, or if no compression on any cylinders, possible timing chain.
Replace engine!!! Tell the whole story! Been there done that, got the damn t-shirt!! . Sorry it happened!!
Just farmed out a Durango 4.7, same exact thing happend to it! Took video scope into the spark plug hole to prove the valve seat problem to the customer. He stood there, looked straight at it and still did not want to believe it! On this engine that is major s..t!!
Just got one back from the machine shop. Had to machine and press an oversize seat. What customer wanted to do.
At least it would run though, i bet. Can't justify all the work even then, too much labor on SOHC. One i had was fried!
Good ole Mercedes engineering. I hope it will last a while before the others come out. I am a little nervous about it ya know. Oh and 2 broken springs as well.
No way in hell to charge what it's worth, the customer will never understand why you charge what you do charge and loose good money making work in the process! Tell me i'm wrong! The days of making money on major jobs is over. I think anyway. Do all that engine work and next month a tire go flat and they want you to fix that for free, times have changed big time!
I agree and don't do rebuilds anymore but it's a new customer. Sorry at Dr's office with wife.
Great we have been 60's and 70's since Wednesday and supposed to through the next week
You know this one!
Step by step to prove it's trash. Lol
