2008 dodge ram with 4.7L engine turned off while running water pump went out

what will be my next step and would that cause for it to crank real weak like there is no compression

Have the compression checked on all cylinders to start with. If it got hot enough to quit running, and "drop the valve seats",, there is a good chance you need an engine as this one (4.7) cant tolerate much overheating! But have it checked out, maybe it's salvageable! Good luck with it!
