What is your question?
The estimate given by Tuffy where I usually take my car for oil changes/other repairs, is $625.00 which includes $85.00 diagnostic fee. Is this a fair price? I am retired and live on a fixed income so, price is an issue. My car has only 69,000 actual miles and I keep normal maintenance up-to-date. The problem just started. My car wouldn't accelerate over 30mph. My husband was a mechanic until he passed so I know some things about cars. There were no other prior signs of problems. Thank you, Linda K Cooper

Something to do with speed switches/shift controls. All I know for sure, the problem is under the hood...not the tranny. They said something about having to update the computer and it would be guaranteed for the life of my car. Thanks for your response.
something don't sound right here!i don't see any software updates for your car.and i don't see someone telling you it will last the life of the car!i don't know who "TUFFY" IS,BUT YOU NEED TO FIND OUT EXACTLY what they are replacing/doing to your car?what speed switches/shift controls?post results here.
Thank you so much for your input. I live in Tampa, Fl and Tuffy Tire & Auto Service is a chain of repair shops here like Aamco and places like that. I have used their services in the past for brakes, motor mounts, right rear rotor and general maintenance. I have never questioned their integrity in the past because I understood what they were telling me and they always showed me/my son the bad parts being replaced. For some reason, this time I DON'T understand and like you, feel like something just isn't right. I just don't know what questions to ask. I am going to get a copy of their diagnostic results from them today before going ahead with the repairs. It should have the codes in question, correct? Because I am on a fixed income, they offered me an application for their credit card however, I am going to tell them I can get a better interest rate at my bank (3%) which will give me time to investigate this further. You have been so honest and helpful...wish you were in my area, I'd let you take care of it! Have a Blessed Day and I will post whatever I find out when I get their diagnostic report later this morning. Well, they emailed estimate but no codes! It just says"transmission solenoid", parts $329.99, labor $180.00, shop supplies $30.00, plus tax and diagnostics = $623.26. Wish I could send you a copy but don't know how. Am picking my car up and getting a second opinion. Called Aamco and they couldn't understand it either but they will check it out for FREE. The guy at Aamco said YOU probably saved me a lot of money! So, thank you again...the world needs more people like you in it.
