can something get in the a/c unit?

A mouse can get inside a sealed metal can i believe!! ... May not find the source!.. Did you pull the filter and check under it? Spray some Fabreze onto the filter, it may help. There is a product for deoderizing the hvac, i think... google it...... smell will eventually go away!
