Here's the scenario. For the last couple days when I first drive the vehicle, every possible dashboard light will come on including the passenger air bag warning, my headlights will come on and I assume the tailights will as well. The gauges less the gas gauge shut down. No rpm, no speed. The radio seems to work regardless. This will suddenly come back up and just as suddenly shut off and everything is ok cept the engine light comes on. I initially thought it might be a loose wire due to the gauges coming back up seemingly when I hit a rough spot on the pavement. This is not consistent however, as it will just as radomly happen on a smooth surface. Here's a kicker. I drive about 13 miles to work. After driving it some distance and it being shut off for at least a couple of hours, I can operate the vehicle and everything works ok except again the engine light stays on. I have had a actron tester put on it and it gives the code U1411. They at autozone had not seen this before. Saying it has something to do with the fuel something, which makes no sense at all. Any ideas out there?

Sounds like your instrument cluster is defective. It basically controlls all vehicle electronics indie the vehicle. It replaces what was known as a Body Control Module (BCM). Here is an explanation of what the cluster involves. The ElectroMechanical Instrument Cluster (EMIC) in this model also includes the hardware and software necessary to serve as the electronic body control module and is sometimes referred to as the Cab Compartment Node or CCN. The following information deals primarily with the instrument cluster functions of this unit. Additional details of the electronic body control functions of this unit may be found within the service information for the system or component that the EMIC controls. The EMIC is designed to allow the vehicle operator to monitor the conditions of many of the vehicle components and operating systems. The gauges and indicators in the EMIC provide valuable information about the various standard and optional powertrains, fuel and emissions systems, cooling systems, lighting systems, safety systems and many other convenience items. The EMIC is installed in the instrument panel so that all of these monitors can be easily viewed by the vehicle operator when driving, while still allowing relative ease of access for service. Accessory Power Delay Relay Control - The EMIC provides timing and control for the accessory power delay relay based upon inputs from both the ignition switch and the door ajar switches. Audible Warnings - The EMIC electronic circuit board is equipped with an audible tone transducer and programming that allows it to provide various audible alerts to the vehicle operator, including chime tones and beep tones. An electromechanical relay is also soldered onto the circuit board to produce audible clicks that emulate the sound of a conventional turn signal or hazard warning flasher. Automatic Headlamps Control ,Brake Lamp Control, Brake Transmission Shift Interlock Control, Compass Mini Trip Computer Support, Electronic Transfer Case Interface, Enhanced Accident Response Support, Exterior Lamp Load Shedding , Exterior Lighting Control , Exterior Lighting Fail-safe, Fuel Level Data Support , Heated Seat Control, Horn Control, Entry (RKE) or Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS), Interior Lamp Load Shedding , Panel Lamps Dimming Control, Power Locks, Remote Keyless Entry, Remote Radio Switch Interface, Vehicle Theft Security System Control, Wiper/Washer System Control, The microprocessor-based EMIC hardware and software uses various inputs to control the gauges and indicators visible on the face of the cluster. Some of these inputs are hard wired, but most are in the form of electronic messages that are transmitted by other electronic modules over the Controller Area Network (CAN) data bus
Did you ever figure out exactly what the cause of this was? I have an 05 Durango and exactly the same thing happened to me last night. It was raining the whole day, and when I started the car, everything went nuts (lights, wipers, dash lights, AC). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you C
I got this code the other day but unlike the other people who posted I KNOW why and thought Id share. in my case Id just installed an aftermarket Stereo head unit nothing fancy but I did not spring for the adapter to deal with the CAN BUS so because I cut the wires and the new deck does not have a connection for that system I got the 01411 error and it will mess with all alerts warning lights fuel etc so if your getting this error and have made some modifications recently check there first it means that the computer in your truck cannot speak to all the parts it wants to talk too from the lowly tail light to the fuel injectors
I know this is an old post but I thought I should way in also. This has been happening to me for the last week or so and I could not figure out why. I also have an upgraded stereo system in my truck along with a bunch of other electrical upgrades and the guy above me is right I actually paid for the harness but Dodge doesn't want you to take out the stock stereo so they don't run a power wire for you so I had to tap into my cigarette lighter to get the power for my stereo. I've actually fixed it a few times messing with my btsi and every once in a while it'll come back but not as bad or as long and I'm getting four codes. U1411, u110e, u110c and u0141. My stereo is only thing I haven't checked and I am planning on checking that next but I really don't think I need to because everything else works great it's just a minor inconvenience every once in awhile
Seems to be a problem with this vehicle. About three years ago I had trouble with lights not going off and other electric probs. The cluster was 'reprogrammed' but results did not prove problem was fixed which included a constant drain on the battery. The instrument cluster has been replaced twice now, there was a recall on the cluster thru chrysler and each time was covered on warranty. These recent anomalys were different from past experience but it looks like it is the same root cause. Hate to take it back to the dealership and lose two days again, but looks like it is unavoidable.. Thanks for your reply.
Just thought I'd chime in, I just bought a 2006 Durango with a 5.7. Day after I picked it up we had some heavy rain and the dash warning lights and all dash functions went crazy. Dash was lit up like a Christmas tree. Someone had cut the radio wires. Fixed that, same problem. Then I noticed the floor was wet on driver side. Looked up and noticed stains on the headliner. Long and short the front left sunroof drain was clogged and the water was overfilling the tray, running down the windshield pillar and right onto the kick panel fuse block. Shorting everything out. Changed the fuse panel and fixed every electrical problem. If you have this problem and have a sunroof, check the drains. Hope this helps some of you.
