From a stop my transmission wont shift up. Changed fluid and filter, no change

What is your question?

Ocasionally after I come to a stop (sign or light) the trans wont shift out of first gear. I have to pull over shut car off and restart, then it will work right again. It is not throwing a service light and doesn't happen all the time. Had oil and filter changed with no change in outcome. Any suggestions?

Not sure if this applies to you, but the transmission is probably electronically controlled. Check the electrical connections or there may be sensors in the transmission itself that are going bad. Restarting is probably resetting the signals in the computer allowing it to operate for a short time. Understand, this is a guess on my part as I'm not familiar with the make and model you have.
