A 2.4 liter engine is the same engine that is in many many Chrysler vehicles and oh, by the way the Dodge Neon, power train also powers the non-turbo Minis. So, think of a car like a stereo, it is made up of components. And one more thing, the 2.4 liter engine is not even made by Chrysler/Dodge, it is made by Mitsubishi. It is from the Eclipse model. Open the hood of the 4 cylinder non-turbo Eclipse. You will see.
Correction, Misinformation. 1 Chrysler discontinued the Neon in the US Market in 2005. The 2007 2.4L engine used in the Stratus is a 2.4L WORLD engine and the 2.4L engine used in the Caravan is a Chrysler Engine. The WORLD engine is build by The Global Engine Manufacturing Alliance LLC, or GEMA, The World Engine has five factories worldwide; two (GEMA) in Dundee, Michigan, United States, two in South Korea and one in Shiga, Japan. Production began in 2005 and will continue at least through 2012 with an annual capacity of approximately two million engines; each plant will be capable of producing 420,000. The cylinder block was designed jointly by Chrysler, Hyundai and Mitsubushi, the Variable valve timing from Mercedes and the Cylinder heads from Nemak in Mexico. Twenty different automobile models from the three companies will use the engines. Each manufacturer configured their variants of the basic GEMA design differently based on their engineering needs and standards, so consumers may experience very different power, fuel efficiency, and "feel" from each manufacturer.
