Check engine light came on then went out for weeks now back on

What is your question?

My check engine light came on. The machine said e vap leak.. Put on new gas cap, with a light vaseline coating, for a tighter seal on cap rubber. Stayed on for weeks, then went off for 1 month. Now its back on again. Also red brake light came on for weeks, went off for weeks, now back on for 2 weeks now. Checked fluid, had to add very little, but it stayed on. Also when it rains brakes sound like they are grinding, then they go back to normal, with no noise. Are these lights a fluke in system? Not seeing any leaks. Everything seems to be working fine. No weird noises. ABS light on when I bought it. The person said when he replaced the brakes it came on and never went off. The van drives good.

What makes this problem better or worse?

The brakes when it rains.
