What is your question?
We own a 2012 Dodge Avenger. My wife stated that it started acting weird and that it was opening and closing by itself. Now the engine won't turn over. I'm not sure if jumping it will help because the lights and radio seem to be working just fine. Any advice?

Try your spare key. I was having problems with my 2014 Dodge Avenger and everyone kept saying it was my starter or my starter relay. I had it scanned and it was my key with the buttons on it. But when I took it to the dealership, they said it was my anti-theft system ($467 to replace or repair, blah blah). Nope. I put my spare key in and it started. Try this first. The starter relay Is not one of those relay parts either. Just a head's up because I tried everything and now all I'm doing is buying a new battery for my key. I'm ableto program it myself, as well!
You’re welcome!
what started opening and closing by its self?why not try and jump it off?radio and lights will work with low battery voltage, but may not crank the engine over.try jumping and see if any lights come on and stay on,like the battery light and maybe the check engine light.alternator could have went out,and drained the battery, that's when you start seeing weird gremlins, cause it's not charging, and you are running straight from the battery until it drains to nothing!do you have a volt meter?
Sorry for the delay in responding the problem turned out to be the fuel pump I got it replaced and its been running smooth ever since
glad you replied back and got it going, even though it's been almost a year. well, from your original question, and it turned out to be the fuel pump really don't match up.a bad fuel pump would be like cranking the engine over, but not starting.but, glad you got it going anyways.a broke down vehicle is not fun at all! Happy Motoring.
The recent story with my 2008 Dodge Avenger: I ran a quick errand to a local store. When I came outside to leave, the car would not crank. With the key in the "on" position no lights were on the dash, the radio worked fine, ph charger charged cell. The keyless remote would lock/unlock car but would not pop trunk. The panic button worked when pressed but only stopped when pressed again. The steering wheel would not lock with key out of ignition. What I did: Place the key in the ignition Turned to "on" position Placed gear in "drive" - may stall @ 1st Turned key in ignition to crank car Viola! Car crank!! It's a prob with the wireless key entry security system. Sometimes it's not in sync with the car's security system. -Courtney
