What is your question?
I was driving my 2010 Dodge Avenger on a 55 mph Road. When we were going under a red light it suddenly dropped to 0 mph, then I put pedal to the metal & could not get it to go. I finally got it up to 25 mph to get it to my house. Then after that I turned it off turned it back on & it would not start when it does start it acts like it wants to stall out as if its not getting gas. This has beThere's no power, but the radio, dash lights come on. I bought a new battery, alternator, along with more parts. I've been told so many different things I don't know what to do. I have a 10 & 12 year old & I don't want to risk them getting hurt or getting in a crash with them in the car all because of this car. The ETC light is on & the codes are for the throttle body sensor, fuel regulator, circuit high open. Plus, it will not start in cold weather only when it is 65 or higher but still stalls out. If anyone can give me advice it would be appreciated. It's been setting for a year now. PLEASE HELP?
What makes this problem better or worse?
It's worse in cold weather it will not even try to start, but in warm weather in will start and stalls out or won't go over 25mph
How long has your 2010 Dodge Avenger had this problem?
year and a half

Hello, When there is an issue with the electronic throttle body (ECT) system, it can be the gas pedal assembly, the throttle body, wiring harness, or powertrain control module. Since all of these are possible, it is in your best interest to have it diagnosed rather than replacing part by part. A year of lost use and the loss of parts on the vehicle are probably more than the cost of diagnostics.
Lots of the same problems on these, need deep pockets for this vehicle. Electronic Throttle Control Light/horse power loss - Page 3 ... https://dodgeforum.com › ... › Dodge Avenger › 2008 - Current Dodge Avenger or,just google 2010 Dodge Avenger Electronic Throttle Control problems
Oh WOW thank you, you would stink after all the research I have done that I would have come across that for him but I guess not. But thank you so much I just bought a throttle body sensor along with the throttle unit and some other throttle piece I don't even remember what it's called but I'm getting it all replaced tomorrow so fingers crossed that I just didn't waste A lot of more money on this car.. Thank you so much for your reply and I will keep you updated
Well I might as well throw my 2 cents worth in .. These vehicles inherently have *throttle body* problems for a fact! .. The reason I know that is I have personally fixed several of them - same thing on all ., I had no problems at all diagnosing each one with a Snap-On Modis Ultra scanner - which you'll likely find in most independent auto repair facilities. That said - I see no need having a Dodge dealer do this repair! https://repairpal.com/repair-shops
That's what it keeps reading, the codes so far have been for the throttle body fuel regulator circuit high open. I replaced the fuel pump, filter, fuel line, and regulator, plus a bunch of other parts. Then I reset the computer and it still read the code for the throttle body and a fuel code. I'm going to replace the throttle body whole sensor unit, the gas pedal, hopefully it fixes it, I'll keep you updated. I called around to some Dodge and Chrysler dealerships and their wanting $300-$600 just for the diagnostic testing, i have a couple diagnostic testers and I'm gonna reset it after I put these new parts on and hope it works and runs right. Thank you for your help, and I will keep you updated. I truly appreciate all the help and if you cone across anything else or any more advice I am willing to take any help I can get!!
The second post is already removed. Thank you though.
Thank you so much for your response. I have been told that it was the gas pedal but when I went to go replace it Dodge told me that that wasn't it then when they hooked it up to their Diagnostics machine they said they couldn't find any problem . Also, I have had it hooked up to about 12 different diagnostic machines along with a computer diagnostic machine and they still couldn't tell me what was wrong. That's why I came to this website because I always read about things on here and how people get their vehicles fixed due to the answers and I honestly don't know what else to do, thank you!
Perfect again my apologies and thank you for your help. Also, how do I put my name when I reply to an answer? It keeps showing visitor, sorry for bugging you...
You're fine. It says visitor because you aren't signed into an account. My advice is to have a separate dodge/chrysler/jeep dealership attempt diagnosis. They all use STAR diagnostics, and they are all made my the same company. Look around on yelp to see which dealer shop has the highest rating for repairs, and call them with your situation. Ask specifically if they have a factory trained ASE master technician. Even if he/she isn't assigned to your vehicle, the person who is will pester them for knowledge until they either take over or help out.
Okay I will do that and thank you so much for everything. I'll keep you posted on what they say. Again, thank you!
