What is your question?
Lights and radio come on. It doesn't even try to turn over. The car is in park, but on the dash, there is a box around the "R". I think it senses that the car is in reverse. How can I start it long enough to get it into the shop?

Hello, if your vehicle is thinking the shift lever is in "reverse", then indeed, the engine will not crank. You'll need to work to get your transmission into "park" or "neutral", by watching the gear selector on the dash. If the shift linkage is not properly aligned, or the shift lever position sensor has failed (or related wiring), then it may be difficult to get it to do what you want it to do. However, you're on the right track with the thought process. Good luck.
Just another tip - apply park brake - shift to neutral - turn key to start position - may need to move shifter up / back a bit while holding key to start for the starter to engage .. IF successful you can drive to repair facility.
