Can't shift out of park

What is your question?

No warning, no prior problems and no impact of any kind. I removed the interior cover and could find nothing that would indicate a short in the wiring or sensor. Absolutely no reason I can think of why it would just freeze up like this. Any ideas that won't cost me an arm and a leg ?

There should be a manual release button , till you have the electrical problem figured. Remove the trim around the shift & you will see a button in the lower right. The one I saw last week was a pinkish button. Press that with a pen , pencil or ? See if the brake lights come on. Fuse? Look at the fuses

Ok , I was able to take it out of park and then checked all fuses , which are ok . So what now ?
