I want to buy a friend's 2000 LHS but husband said their engines are notorious for blowing which is a $5,000 repair. Something about holes not drilled wide enough in the engine and they gunk up. HELP!

The 2000 Chrysler LHS with the 3.5L engine has no common problems. The 1998-1999 vehicles with a 2.7L engine had issues with sludge build up which has since been corrected. I personally own a 2001 Dodge Intrepid with a 3.5l engine with 167K on is with no issues.
I agree. I have 220000 on my 2000 LHS with little more than routine issues. I think the 3.5 engine is one of the best in awhile. Make sure the timing belt has been changed as this is an interference engine so it will cause head damage if the belt breaks while driving. I still get 20 MPH in town and 24 to 26 on the highway.
