car accelerates when brakes are applied

What is your question?

whenever i apply the brake and come to a complete stop the rpms go up over 2k and the car tries to take off. it will rev high as long as the brake is depressed. if you let off the brake the car will run up to 20 or so mph and then settle back to idle.

How long has your 2001 Chrysler 300M had this problem?

couple years but its not my daily driver
