The gear shifter is failing causing the car to roll out of the drive or down the street, according to the report on the news. Is there a recall on this. The problem is with 2012 to 2014 model 300 Chrysler.

As with ANY vehicle .. IF the shifter is not placed into park and the *park brake* is not applied before exiting the vehicle, then the vehicle will definitely roll in a 'downhill' direction! .. Chrysler has come up with a way for the vehicle to notify the operator that the transmission has not been shifted into park .. It is not a mechanical failure, it is an operators error!.. See > Recalls on this page.
The shifter is in park and still rolls this is not an error on the operator.
I suspect it's just another case of *Media Frenzy* .. Just like it was with the runaway Toyota vehicles .. Funny how all that stuff just seems to disappear without anything actually being done to fix the issues! .. No way it could possibly be human error! .. Try this > Firmly place the shifter in park, apply the parking brake, turn engine off - then exit vehicle, if desired... Note: *ALL* vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions will roll a few inches on an incline after shifting into PARK > until the parking pawl inside the transmission engages and locks the wheels .. That's 'normal' operation! http://repairpal.com/chrysler-300-2014/recalls
