I believe you mean WIN (wireless ignition node) The wireless ignition node is pretty much an ignition switch. It reads the chip in the key and sends that info to the PCM (powertrain control module) If the info matches the info stored in the PCM, the PCM sends a response that says its the correct key and the vehicle is allowed to start. Pushing or turning key to hard, using a damaged key, allowing battery to drain and jump starting, using incorrect key, allowing dirt, food, or drinks to spill on or in switch. All reasons I've seen them fail.
