What is your question?
Recently had the EGR valve replaced since the check engine light was on. Cost of labor was $340, well above your estimates. Is there anything peculiar about this repair to make it so expensive ? Secondly, is it standard practice to also need purge the system and clean the injectors ?

Our "Dealership" estimate was $339.00 which falls close to the price you paid. The cost of the EGR Valve will vary from dealer to dealer, but is commonly around the $200.00 dollar range. Labor charges vary as well. Here on the San Francisco Bay area, this repair can cost in the neighborhood of around $500.00 as the labor rate is generally around $170.00 per hour for dealerships and $80-120.00 per hour for independent shops. Average time "sold" to perform the job is 2 hours. To answer your second question, NO, it is not necessary to "purge" or clean the injectors. Almost all fuel suppliers have additives in the fuel to clean and keep deposits on injectors from forming. Many shops sell these services as it has a huge profit margin for them.
Thanks !
