2004 Chevy venture cranks but will not start after changing timing chain and it has no compression at all
What is your question?
Cranks but will not start has no compression timing has been replaced it is getting spark fuel pump is good it’s getting fuel to the motor it also just died while driving and it over heated everything Is turning inside the motor the water pump was turning backwards I bought the van from someone else and they put the belt on the water pump on backwards
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing we have tried so far has helped
How long has your 2004 Chevrolet Venture had this problem?
Firstly - the 3.4L engines simply do not give timing chain problems!
I really don’t know why that was replaced.
Lastly - it is more likely the engine has suffered major internal damage due to severe overheating.
IF engine gets severely overheated - the piston rings loose their ‘tension’ and thus the ability to properly seal against the cylinder walls - resulting in little or no compression.
▪️ Cylinder *leak down* testing will provide the answer ▪️
Now what you should do is add a couple tablespoons of transmission fluid to each of the ‘accessible’ cylinders and re-test compression - then post the results here for additional help.
Good luck!
The timing was replaced because the chain was loose and the guide was broken and it has been over heating due to the person who had it before me putting the pully bell on the water pump backwards
