The van is starting slow - I turn it over and it barely turns over -

I turn it over and it barely turns over. So far it has caught and started - however it barely turns over. I replaced the battery (It was old anyways) but it still does same thing. I don't think it is the alternator (at least I hope not)don't want to replace starter if not the problem.
