These are notorious for ignition switch problems. Contacts in the switch crud up, begin to arc & eventually lose contact, BUT, YOU can try this , it costs nothing but time. These have a passlock system that may need to be reset. DO THIS... Important: Do not remove the key from the ignition during this procedure. If the key is removed, the procedure will have to be performed from the beginning. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. ONLY Attempt... to start the engine,...then release the key to ON. The vehicle will DID not start of course Observe the SECURITY light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5-6 seconds. Now Repeat steps 1-4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code The vehicle will now learn the Passlock Sensor Data Code on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to RUN. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. Now Start the engine.
No spark , no fuel , or no crank?
sorry i meant to say the shifter cable is gone and mechanic said it will only crank sometimes and not sometimes would that cable stop it and he also said the locksmith has to program the key to make it start but it turns over and trys to start then sometimes nothing at all? the mechanic told me that when it does turn over the dash lights blink so im not sure i have paid for all these services i just want right answer instead being bs about it liek i feel this man is doing
ok will it still crank without it being reset so the missing shift cable and car being stuck in gear wouldnt keep it from starting either? I thought locksmith does all that he didnt even inform me i may have to do that thanks so much but what about the shift cable im not sure what that is for but i know i need to replace it correct?
