Can’t locate oil filter on 2004 trailblazer 4.2 L 6 cyl.

It is mounted to the bottom of the engine by the oil pan at the front of the engine near the crankshaft pulley.
Additionally - I realize folks want to save a little money and maybe even enjoy diy auto maintenance but in reality you can have the engine serviced at local auto repair facility about as cheaply as you can do it yourself.. The plus side is no mess to deal with and no used motor oil to recycle.. Just saying.
Couldn't agree more! I definitely do not change my own oil! The heck with that! Especially for the proper disposition of recycling used motor oil. I'll let the shop handle that!
. Yeah it’s just not worth the hassle ! .. Oil run down your arm - all over the chassis then the driveway when it misses the drain pan - old oil filter gasket get stuck on engine then you have a leak.. Plus the shop personnel will notice any deficit in other important fluids or items that will need attention ASAP - - dirty air filter - a drive belt that’s in dire need of replacement, etc.. These things often go unnoticed by the DIYer’s. Basically the days of diy automobile maintenance and repair are over with - and have been for ‘some time’ now.
