can you Change just the clutch on the Ac compressor, i was told that u cant anym

Hello, For many older vehicles the parts can be purchased separately, while they are sold as a unit for most newer vehicles. Additionally, many newer vehicles, even some back to the late 80's, do not use an A/C clutch. Instead, they meter the amount of refrigerant that can cycle through the compressor at a given time, while running the compressor constantly. A quick search shows that for your vehicle, the availability of the parts are the concern.

The replacement clutch kit is available, however it cost about $120.00 .. The kit includes the disc, hub/pulley and field coil .. Now, it takes special tools and talent to replace those parts and that may or may not fix your actual ac problem! .. You'll need to consider labor cost as well .. Usually repair shops aren't going to take a chance on replacing just the clutch kit - for good reasons! .... What made the clutch fail to start with .. Plus NO warranty can be applied to the work.
