good deals on E-bay.just gotta search for um.some, not many parts houses will match internet prices.all the things you are asking about replacing, you may want to stick with a local parts store for the WARRANTY!.RockAuto.com has the best prices on lots or most of their items than any parts houses do.if going to a parts house,AZ,ADV,ORLY,ask them if they will match internet prices.i'm pretty sure NAPA will not.some of the NAPA stores are CORP. owned stores and some are INDEPENDENTLY OWNED!
pushrod is RIGHT.NAPA has the VERY LOWEST return rate on their parts than any other parts house anywhere!and they have been around since (1925)!! NAPA also has hard to find parts parts that you CAN NOT get/find anywhere else.
Can't be beat if using their first line parts!.. When I first started fixing em, that was the ONLY parts store around.. Well .. then here comes Advance and Zone plus others... That forced NAPA to take on a 2nd and even a 3rd line of parts to compete as people only want the lowest price on parts while not considering quality .. and that, as far as I'm concerned, has been 'at the least' partial ruination of the auto repair business!.. To many failures from the poor quality parts! .. And you know who gets the blame for that...
oh! i know all about em.there is a man here in Gastonia that just passed away.at one time he owned 32 differen NAPA stores..his son and grandson have taken over the business.they now have only 18 stores.they also own a paint store(Carolina Colors)at one time i use to do their inventory controls for them.also i used to go to one store and make their Hydraulic Hoses for them and mix paint for lots of vehicles when we had all that Hail Damage here.different ball game at NAPA,versus the ZONE,ADV,ORLY!!! and yes 3 diff lines.
Yep you're right, heck... It's a different world now in general from what it used to be... I'm glad I'm about ready to hang up the wrenches myself!
you can't give that up,and miss all THESE Q&A HERE !!!
Yeah,right!.. Lol.. ... ** 04 F-150 5.4.. NO heat in cabin but engine temp good .. coolant full...and both heater hoses burn hand... Control or temp door actuator?.. Hadn't had time for testing... Just know turning temp knob makes no difference...no change in sound of blower air either... Don't do much 'under' dash work anymore, ain't agile enough.. That's my excuse anyway!
i had that same problem on my 2000.my blend door actuator was stuck on cold.when i turned the temp control knob from cold to hot,NO CHANGE.turned out to be the blend door actuator in the center, behind that cover at the very bottom on HUMP.coolant had leaked in it from bad heater core leaking, shorted out the little circuit board.suppose to be able to hear a little humm when turning hot/cold knob back and forth, but no sound.replaced it,then all good!
Can it be turned manually just to get heat?.. Pretty rough ol truck and that might be all they want to do... It came in late yesterday evening so don't really know the details yet.
the guy that did my heater core took the cover off,and tried tapping on it with the butt end of a screwdriver with a small hammer.he said sometimes it would switch if you tap on it,but mine would not.had to go get the new blend door actuator.it was like 18 or 20 degrees on Wed before Thanksgiving at 5:00.so i had to wait till Monday to get it.at that time it was dealer item only.parts houses have them now,Dorman i think.
Ok, thanks... Will check it out next week.
that one i think also has a heater control valve on it!some do,some don't.
Didn't see one on this truck...but like you said...it could be either way...plus both heater hoses (in & out) are hot as can be.
