I need a truck that is in this order, safe, dependable, good on muddy logging roads, easy to maintain, not expensive to buy or maintain, long lasting, a popular model for a source for future repair parts, I do not care about style or looks. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Please give the pros and cons and any other ways to figure the truck for me. Thanks very much,

Chevrolet Silverado or GMC Sierra with the Duramax engine! Then depending on how much weight you plan to tow as to which duty rating the truck needs to be. Now that is my opinion, i bet/hope there are others! That is a tough call though, cause Ford and Dodge have to be considered as well. I just like the Chevy. and that is why it gets my vote. However i do think one of those three is you bet, dont think the Asian trucks can hang!! Might be wrong. Check out the specs. and test drive each make, talk to other owners and decide from that! What are other loggers using? I think that one of the GM/Duramax combo's. will be hard to beat. Of course in the end it's your money and choice.
Others won't agree but I would stay away from diesel if not being expensive to maintain is important to you, and gas is way easier IMO. That being said your running around on logging roads, which to me means mud and you might as well just be off-roading all the time. No matter what the manufacturers claim if you are doing that to a truck its going to need service and a lot of it, and the mud that gets caked on makes that a miserable affair. You best choices are going to be Ford/Chevy JMHO.
