When I turn my key to the on position the check engine light does not come on at all why

What is your question?

Replace the steering column in my 1996 Chevrolet S10 2.2 L and since then the truck has only crank three or four times it will turn over but will not start I have noticed my check engine light or battery light does not come on when they truck at all what would cause my check engine light not to come on?
