What is your question?
Will not return to 2 wd until it's turned off for an hour or so. Changed accuator switch on transfer case and accuator under battery tray, plus all vacuum lines, obviously needed done. Tried lighted switch, flashing but would not engage. Next lights went out and wouldn't do anything. Let it set for an hour, and now lights work, definitely engages in and out of 4H, 2H, 4L, until it runs more than 10 min. either way. Like it has to bleed off vacuum before it will change. What do I try next?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Doesn't matter if your in 2w or 4w, to change out the wait after engine is off is the same.
How long has your 1996 Chevrolet S10 had this problem?
Over a year

Disconnect vacuum SUPPLY hose to transfer case vacuum switch - does 4x4 disengage ? Suspect restriction in vacuum bleed off port at switch or hose - a defective new transfer case vacuum switch wouldn't be totally uncommon.. Make sure the vacuum hose *cluster* that connects to vacuum switch is oriented correctly.
It is most definitely a vacuum circuit problem !
