Note: This specification has been updated from Dexron II or III to Dexron VI per a Technical Service Bulletin from the manufacturer.Service change: 4.7 Liters (4.97 Quarts).Total Fill: 10.9 Liters (11.52 Quarts).
This information is in the owners manual. These lubrication recommendations is what came in the vehicle from the ‘factory’ in 1996 .. (22+ years ago)
It's a 2.2 4 cylinder.. I thought I put that.. my local auto parts store told me to use Valvoline dex/merc.. multi car Automatic trans fluid..
Automatic transmission fluids .. Over the years, the original Dexron was supplanted by Dexron-II, Dexron-IIE, *Dexron-III* and Dexron-VI, which is the current fluid .. GM has upgraded the Dexron specifications over the years - newer fluids are generally - but not always backward compatible with previous fluids. ( Dextron III has worked just fine for 22 years - it will still do the same! )
