it has good torque in rev a Lil sluggish in 1st changes to 2nd no 3rd or 4th and it has no smell of burnt fluid

3rd to fourth is strictly the direct drive /forward clutch packs. If it were 1st & 4th I would say solenoid or electrical connection, but 3rd gear is that last 1 to 1 ratio and the clutch pack is locked. If you have no 3rd OR 4th it has to be clutch
Recently experienced the same, no 3rd or 4th gear. Code specified was B Solenoid stuck in off position.(engaged into 'limp' mode. Still dealing with this. Tomorrow is 'I become a mechanic' via Google and YouTube. Fingers crossed.
If my code read B solenoid stuck in off position, inducing limp mode..but your ratio knowledge makes total sense with first and 4th...I'm at a loss. I need to attempt a DIY but now I am more stumped than ever.Helllp ;( Its a 2003 Chevy S10 4x4 (automatic)
