With A/C on max, test for battery voltage at the low press switch with tester.. IF present, jumper switch connector with paper clip in each terminal,..leave it there...... Now check for battery voltage at the clutch coil connector... IF present. Check ground circuits!... IF no 'voltage' found, check supply circuits!
I just had this issue myself, wound up being my low side pressure switch. Cheap easy fix.
no current or voltage found at pressure switch or clutch coil terminal. alreadt straightwired pressure switch. nothing. clutch worked fine before installing new compressor. I believe the clutch should energize when the inside control is moved to ac selection. not an expert. As stated, clutch worked fine with old compressor. I straightwired(old term) the clutch and it cools well. Wow. What happened when I changed the compressor? I dont really know where a supply circuit is located. Guess I need wiring diagram. Need help. Thanks to all friends who have answered.
Have you TESTED ALL of the fuses??... Sure sounds like you took one out while changing the compressor!!!!!' THATS the only thing that makes sense!
this is sugarpop... thanks to all who helped. I finally figured it out. I did not transfer the high pressure switch to the receiver dryer, accumulator, when I installed new dryer with dessicant. I took switch from old dryer, put it in new one and whoopi..it worked. Thanks to all.Sugarpop
That's the 'low' pressure switch on the accumulator.... in which you stated you tested to start with!!! There was voltage there!!!!... Just to get it right here for other owners/readers...... They also have problems with poor connections at that low pressure switch... See it quite often! Switch itself rarely 'ever' fails!!!!........ Glad you have it working...
