There are two guide clips on the window.. One on the front and one on the rear .. Roll window down about 3 to 4 inches then tilt glass forward enough to install rear clip .. The front clip requires door trim panel removal.
I made a tool out of a pair of pliers that is flat on one side and a point on the other side and it works but i also suggest you use some MAX glue also and it seems to work well.
I'm having a hard time getting the clip to snap together. Plenty of room to work, the clip is just barely the right size, the one the book states is the right one. I can not apply enough pressure to get the clip to snap together. Is there a special tool to use to help. A trick or tip on how to get it to snap together?
I've had the same problem on 'some' of them! .. Then others just snap right together .. Can CAREFULLY try plires to snap into place .. I have resorted to just using clear silicon 'adhesive' to glue the damn things in pace, need to lightly clamp the clip to the glass until adhesive cures which takes about 12 hours if you can wait on it.. Spring loaded clamp works well .. This should be a simple enough little job, you'd think but can be a pain in the ... neck!
if it's not one thing,it's something else. I used a c-clamp to get the guide to snap together. A c-clamp puts direct pressure on that area of the guide, but tighten it slowly. The window goes up fine, going the down the guide comes out. I can push slightly against the window going down and the it stays. Another problem to solve.
YEP, little truck getting old & tired, like myself! .. The guide track is 'likely' worn out .. Available at LMC truck accessories .. I bet there are some YouTube videos on the installation... Now, the front guide 'clip' may need to be replaced also, it can cause the window to tilt forward when rolled down pulling rear clip out of track .. Door trim panel must be removed to check.. Not a big job.
What I need is a new truck. You're right,it is tired and worn out like me as well. Checking the rest of the window is a job for another day this summer. With your help I know what to look for and what to do. Thank You
You betcha!
