Remove thermostat - drain and refill cooling system several times until water is clear - running engine up to operating temperature before each drain and refill. No need for harsh chemicals - nothing fancy needed.

Install new thermostat and *antifreeze* - being sure enough is added to protect coolant from freezing in cold temperatures.
