Headlights only work on bright, go off on dim

The headlights on this 2000 Chev Metro LSI only work on highbeam and they shut off on low beam. All fuses are good. Getting current to lights. Have changed lamps 3 times. The low beams work for a few minutes then go out. What would cause that? Thank You!
When visitors post a comment to their own questions in the 'answer' segment - they may not get 'another' answer as it appears the question has already been answered and then it will probably get overlooked .. Just so you know. I'll contact RepairPal to see if that can be changed so It dosent happen.
As for the headlight problem .. Are you keeping the glass globe clean of ANY foreign matter when installing .. Including touching it with bare skin? .. You stated there is power at the connector - how about a good ground?
The white wire is the ground correct? Yes they are grounded. No, the bulbs were not touched with bare skin nor were they dirty. Thank You
Low beam lights turn on then expire in a just few minutes .. That don't make sense .. Unless the bulbs are defects.. (2000 Chevrolet Metro calls for 9007 bulbs - for 'factory' headlights) Make sure the wire harness connector is in good shape... Test bulbs with ohm meter to be sure they are indeed burning out.
After a new bulb is put in the low beams expire within a few minutes then they never come on again. I will check to see if that 9007 no. is right. Doesn't make sense to me either. Thanks for your help!
