The theft deterrant light remains blinking without the system activated.

What is your question?

After exiting the vehicle and closing the door without locking it, the theft deterrant light on the dash flashes every few seconds. By reading the owners manual, its my understanding that the light should flash every 3 seconds after locking the vehicle. Also, can this light cause a battery drain? When the vehicle is left unlocked, I don't believe the light should be flashing. It hasn't in the past.
