Well a pin hole in the pipe (for instance) would cause a leak in the EVAP system and set code PO442.

There are other possible causes for this failure of course - however it’s difficult to determine WHY it occurred without *hands-on* inspection / evaluation. Perhaps the “dealerships” personnel will shed some light on it for you. https://www.engine-codes.com/p0442_chevrolet.html
