What is your question?
My car stalled on me and won't restart. It's flooded out. Didn't make any sounds, just stalled and floated to a stop. Repair shop is saying that there isn't any compression on three cylinders they checked.Back fired through the exhaust. I trust the shop, but is there anything else that should be checked before moving to the used engine scenario?

More testing needs to be done.. Not likely timing chain on this engine .. They just don't give any trouble .. at twice that mileage .. Timing chain problems are a thing of the past on pushrod engines! As this one is... It is the 5.3L right?
So with not having any compression, what things would cause that? I was getting "Engine hot, turn off engine" Temp gauge wasn't working and there wasn't anything wrong with it. It would just be gone after I started it again.I'm reading about some different sensors to replace??
You stated it was flooded out.. Gas washed cylinder walls will cause compression issues.. I can't check it out, just suggest that more testing needs to be done before engine replacement!!.. Anything is possible but I've never had any problems at the shop with the timing componets on these engines..and we see a bunch of them.
