It sounds like i have a lifter knocking, Its loud and definately metalic. worse at low speeds or idling, quieter once i reach speeds of 40 or more. what can i do?

usually # months roughly, however this time i waited too long, checked it NONE. grr. anyways I put oil in it, now its making same noise and wont stay started, had battery and alt checked those are good. now i cant even get to work...
Lifters are probably not pumped up yet. It needs serviced more often. It's the like blood of you're engine. Hopefully you can get them working with fresh oil or they may need replacing and the engine oil system flushed for the gunk buildup.
i am having it flushed in the morning, its stalling and scary to even drive to the corner and i know it, i know better. single parent two jobs, no time, just havent been on my game lately. it'll either start working or i'll push it off a cliff, i hate this car.
