IN AN EMERGENCY LIKE YOU CANT SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND NEED TO GET TO A DEALER TO FIX IT..

Yes, but you have to gain access to it, after access push button and see what's trying to move, then move obstruction. Might check your brake lights. If not working check fuse.
IT REQUIRES ALL THE PLASTIC TO BE REMOVED AROUND THE SHIFT CONSOLE NOT AN EASY TASK .. BUT IF YOU REMOVE THE RELAY AND THE ACTUAL PUSH BUTTON WILL IT TELL THE COMPUTOR THAT SOMETHING IS MISSING AND TURN ON MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ..............
It has to have voltage to activate the release. That voltage comes from the brake light circuit. The computer doesn't read the release switch. Don't remove the button, or it won't work. It also stops you from going to drive and reverse by accident. Going down the road at 60mph and something bumps the shifter to reverse, Good Bye Transmission.
I FOUND THAT COFFEE HAD SPILLED ON THE SERVO AT THE SHIFT LEVER UNDER THE HOUSING AND A MOUSE HAD PEED ON IT ............ SO I CLEANED AND LUBED IT WITH WD 40 AND NOW IT WORKS .. BUT WHAT A JOB GETTING ALL THE PLASTIC OFF
Yes Sir: Some have to remove complete console. Happy you found it. No Worries.
