is the shaft turning where the arm is mounted when the wipers are turned on?
after some of owning a cruze if your like me you already are looking up ( is it a problem that should be a recall) and of course no but sh** happens so IF JUST ONE OF THE WIPERS GOES OUT ON 2012-15 CRUZE IT IS THE WHINDSHEILD WIPER TRANSMISSION or linkage whatever you prefer both are the same but part maker call if technically a transmission. COST- 30.00-50.00 depending on where you get it. think its 2 10mm nuts a and 12mm nut nothing hard just make sure you put the arms back in the same place or test it first before putting the cowl back on to save having to redo over and over. just like everything Chevy somehow they get away with problems like this that cost not a lot to change but what a headache.
I looked at the wiper on the driver side and it moves freely like maybe the linkage has come off or broke.
if you mean it moved freely when you move it by hand, then i believe you are correct> linkage/bushing broke/came off.also, some newer models have a little plastic cap over the part that goes to the shaft and has a nut under there that may or may not be loose?
Thanks for your help it has a bushing that broke and had to get what they call a wiper transmission and was able to get another one and had it fixed.
i had the same thing happen on a honda a few years ago and most parts places sales the bushings in their HELP section, but they have none for honda. i had to go to the Honda dealer, but they only sold the bushing with the linkage/transmission arm and was only $20.00. i believe your whole transmission is only $80.00,and replacing it is easy, less than 1 hour..glad you fixed it...
