Hello, it seems as if those concerns would not be related. If you have had under hood repairs, though, check to ensure all wiring harnesses are connected as they should be, and all fuses are intact. If so, then a normal test of the air conditioning system for refrigerant pressures and electrical operation is necessary to determine the cause of failure.
The thermostat itself is electronically assisted as well as monitored and requires a top quality replacement 'assembly' - preferably original equipment from GM .. The temperature sensors (there are two) are also critical for proper cooling system / air conditioning operation .. This HVAC system is quite unique .. Highly recommend seeking assistance from a GM dealer as there are software updates that will likely need to be programmed. Contacting General Motors customer assistance is probably a good idea also.
