my chevy colorado will not shift back into park therefore i can't get the key ou

this happened yesterday when i stopped and tried to shift into park and turn off the key, Nothing happened before that. It simply won't go into park. Runs fine but i have to put it in neutral and put on the emergency brake when I stop. no unusual noises but a few daya before this I heard a mild squeak when I turned the steering wheel. That is all
