What is your question?
Car cranks but no start and will not fire up at all (no engine warning lights where on). 1/2 tank of gas, can hear fuel pump engage in gas tank when key turned to on and gas squirts out of schrader valve when stem pushed in. Electrical - had battery tested and was not in the best of condition so I bought a new one. Put it in and no help (didn't think it would). Than I replaced the 4 spark plugs and coil wires and coil and ignition module, no start just turns over. Ok, so prior to putting the coil wires in I tested each one and got spark on each wire (I know first hand because I accidentally touched the screw driver I was using as a ground with my tester and got shocked. I don't feel bad purchasing these parts plug, wires, coil because I look at it as giving the car an overdue tune up. Hoping not a timing belt but have doubts since car died without engine noise and I am getting spark. Now I am looking for suggestions. PS. getting tired of driving wife to work.. Thanks
What makes this problem better or worse?
Outside temperature does not seem to be a factor
How long has your 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt had this problem?

The Cobalt engines have a 'timing chain' which doesn't require 'regular' maintenance .. The actual fuel pressure must be tested using a fuel pressure test gauge .. Test kit should be available for rent at parts stores. Should have 50 to 60 psi > key on - engine off.
Also - getting "shocked" from the ignition system doesn't necessarily mean there is sufficient spark 'voltage' to allow the engine to start .. Ignition spark voltage should be tested with a tester .. Today's ignition systems are capable of producing well over 30 kv (30,000 volts) when operating correctly .. That's enough spark voltage to easily jump a 1 inch air gap to a metal ground and make a audible popping sound each time the ignition fires .. Spark tester should also be available at parts stores. *TESTING* for *SUFFICIENT* > Fuel delivery > Spark 'voltage' > Engine compression .. Should lead you to the failure! Otherwise you'll need to contact local auto repair facility: â–ªï¸https://repairpal.com/repair-shopsâ–ªï¸
I have a 2006 Chevy cobalt as well just got it in July and the same exact problem sort of happened to my car a month ago. Except first this message came on the dash board reading Engine Powered Reduced and luckily I was in my neighborhood before it just cut completely off. I thought it was the starter.. So I got that..but it wasn't that.. A mechanic told me it was my timing chain belt so I got the Whole kit as well a water pump.. That was approximately 240 ..once the mechanic began working on my car as he took things apart he came to the root of my problem which was my motor SMH. Turns out that needed to be replaced or rebuilt.. Used motors are running 900+ .. Or u could rebuild it which is cheaper my mechanic would rebuild mines for $300..so much money for a car I only had for 4months..and the labor for doing all that from a street mechanic is 600... Debating if I should pay to get the car fixed or just Get. A Whole New One
