What is your question?
Hi, when I turn off my air or heat there is the sound of air escaping from some where. It has always been this way, I have had the car for 8 years about, and it has never been a big problem, but I do have to replace my freon yearly. No mechanic I have ever had has said it was a problem, just the standard, "it's an old car." I was wondering if this could be a more severe problem than it seems...

Not a problem .. That's just the sound of the freon pressure equalizing inside the 'evaporator core' when the system is turned off .. Evaporator core is located on the passenger side... Can't hear freon leaking out .. IF that were the case, it'd be gone in just minutes instead of yearly.
You should not have to service (add freon) your a.c. system every year. If that is the case, there must be a small leak somewhere. I would agree, the noise you are hearing are the pressures equalizing in the a.c. system. If you are interested we could take a closer look at your a.c. system. I'm certain that we could locate the leak and repair it so you don't have to keep adding freon every year. If you are interested, or if you have any other questions, feel free to give us a call.
