Replaced the switch have followed the wires from cab to lights running down the frame cannot find any shorts that way. Any ideas on where to go now

i guess you checked the bulbs first.did you check the circuit boards for the brake lights?bad to go out on the chevys!do you have power there?
If signal lights work, wiring, sockets and bulbs ain't the problem because the BRAKE LIGHTS use that same circuit, if one works, then the other has got to!.. *IF voltage is going into the brake light switch and is comming out of brake light switch with pedal pushed*... Replace multifunction switch!!! Brake light circuit runs through that switch BEFORE going to rear lights.
Bulbs are good. I have not checked the circut boards for power. I just bought the truck the owner befor me said a mechanic told them he thought there was a short somewhere between the pedal an engine
check the circuit boards for corrosion,and check for power to them,and out.you can get both sides circuit boards for around $30.00 plus tax,if they are bad.dorman part #70001,i think!post findings.
