you did change the ignition control module.cranks over but no start, correct.
yes i changed the ignition control module...crank after crank with no start..i checked for spark everywhere...none to be found...no power to the coil plug-ins either..im stumped
did you check ignition switch on lower column, like PUSHROD said, how to check for voltage on coil?
no i havent..i would say the switch is good because everything else comes on with the key..all the lights dinger radio..id tryed to reply to his but it wouldnt let me for some reason
for some unknown reason,PUSHRODS suggestion is blank now.he said to turn key to on,not start and check the plus side of coil for voltage.
no power...im testing with a light and a probe
well,,you have replaced everything else.if no power from switch to coil, replace switch.about $15.00,there are 2 different ones.1 with tilt,or 1 without tilt wheel.
okay that'll be my next step...someone also told me to add some extra ground straps from motor to frame, and frame to body..i will get back with results thanks for all the suggestions
*UPDATE* okay so i changed the pickup coil, and the ignition box on the colum, and the ecm (electronic brain)...i have power to the coil but no pulse...also power to coil stays on while cranking...no pulse no spark
now on your original question on march 15th,you stated you already changed the pick up,now today you stated you changed the pick up and ignition switch and ecm.
Copy and paste... Read!.. Click on appropriate test!.. Good luck with it! . http://easyautodiagnostics.com/gm/4.3L-5.0L-5.7L/ignition-misfire-diagnostic-tests-1
my bad i didnt realize i already noted that, but i dont know what else would make no pulse.
I joined this forum to thank pushrod. I was having an issue with my 90 silverado pu 4.3 not starting. I was reading everything i could find about the problem and i kept seeing posts from “pushrodâ€, saying replace the cap and rotor, over and over again. I went and got a new cap and rotor and it fired right up. Thank you whoever you are.
That’s a very common problem - glad you got it fixed. You’re welcome.
Hey pushrod, my oil pressure gauge is fluctuating after engine warms up. It’s 4.3 in a c1500 with a manual trans. It’s got new idle air valve, CO2 sensor, fuel filter, and coil. Has good pressure when idle is up but I get the check gauge light at true idle. Is the oil pump my problem, and can it be changed without having to jack up the motor to get the pan off? Thanks It’s also got the new cap and rotor lol
Replace oil pressure switch - (sending unit).
10-4 thanks
You are the f***in man pushrod. The oil pressure switch was the problem. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
