Trying to replace ignition coil, but cannot get it aligned with the oil slot

Trying to replace my ignition coil assembly, but cannot get it aligned with the oil slot at the bottom. Try to align it with long screwdriver ... but when I put it in and it engages, it turn the assembly slightly and will not align. Is there a trick to doing this, or just trial & error over and over? thanks
