Ok, Bought it drove home fine. Next day I'm checking the 4x4 on it, It had a newer 4.3 put in and is strong. I dropped in 4 wheel low on a sandy surface and give it a lil kick . was Impressed till I put it back in 2 wheel and had no 3rd gear. Replaced solenoids and rear output sensor. No Joy so I dropped the Valve body and checked the Tourqe Lock-up and replaced the spring anyways cause it didn't look like the issue. But once that was done It went into limp mode 2nd gear only 40 mph lol its good for a beer and cig run but that's about it I don't think it burned the clutches it went to fast. Im thinking sun gear I'm sure I can rebuild but im a lil disabled and will need someone to pull and replace. So im just wanting to maybe get an Idea and see what some others may think and yes the L450 is a crap Tranny if it goes again and gonna put a 5 speed in it

The *4L60E* transmission can be tested using appropriate scan tool - shift solenoids as well as other valuable live transmission data can be monitored during test drive.. Shifting into and out of 4x4 is irrelevant to transmission not engaging 3rd gear. No other assistance available due to unknown repair attempt procedures - there’s no way we can possibly know what the actual failure is - *hands-on* evaluation required. Good luck with it!
Additionally - manual transmission will not be compatible with this vehicles electronics nor final drive gear ratios. Recommend contacting local ‘independent’ transmission specialist for latest 4L60E upgrade information - there have been several including valve body ‘modifications’ that are too numerous and lengthy in detail to post here.
well I have my snap on Modis and repair Pal on my phone at first I got a 02 code and code for torque, not locking is why I pulled valve body . But as you said its gonna be a hands-on thing Im gonna put in a known good one and to a complete rebuild with some good clutches new springs for the pumps go through the valve body. But Im gonna bet I busted that ring on the sun gear soon as I punched it that day torque . So for fun and cause im old and have the time im gonna sit down and build the best bullet piece of crap I can
