What is your question?
It will try to crank but want stay running. As long as i pour gad down the throttle body it will run. Runs rough but will run. Dont know what the fuel pressure is but it does have some pressure. Fuel pump is about 6 months old. Not that that really means anything. From what i have been reading sounds like distributor cap. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Working with limited funds.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing has made it bettet
How long has your 2001 Chevrolet Blazer had this problem?
A few days
Thank you. I havent put a pressure guage on it but i have mashed. The button and fuel hit the firewall. I was leaning that way anyway. Thanks for the info.
55 psi *MINIMUM* ! .... Pressure should pretty much hold when key is turned off. May drop 10 psi but NO MORE than that.
Im starting with the fuel filter. I pulled the filter and it was pretty bad. If that dont fix it ill drop the tank in the morning. Probably gonna wind up having to do it just trying to get out of it.. Thanks for the advice.
*TEST* THE FUEL PRESSURE!!! Keep in mind the air duct (tube) from air cleaner assembly to throttle body MUST be in place and properly secured before engine will perform normally - you seem to be putting gas straight into the throttle body - in that case the MASS AIR FLOW sensor can not do it’s job because the air duct (tube) is not in place.. *TEST* THE FUEL PRESSURE!!! Parts store will loan you the test kit.
Tested fuel pressure. It was border line. Got a lifetime warrenty on the one thats in it so i went ahead and pulled the pump. It had a oring that wasnt in correct from the manufacture. Dont know if that was the problem but i got a new pump anyway. Still same problem. Replaced distributor cap and rotor button. Went to put the cap on and the front screw hole in the distributor. Was half broke out and the front of the cap is raised up just a little bit. Its enough that its not firing on all cylinders. Thanks for the advice and information
Easy enough to determine - put more fuel in throttle body - engine start? IF engine starts and burns off fuel added - make certain the security light in dash is turning off as it should.. Also test for fuel pressure drop off when key is turned off.
If it wasnt for bad luck i wouldnt have any luck. Blazer crunk when i poured a little gas in the throttle body. Was gonna do it one more time a the person i had helping me poured to much gas in it and it popped back through the throttle body and cought the 20 oz bottle on fire, he dropped the bottle in the engine compartment and i thankfull i got the fire put out with only damage to the wiring harness on the passenger side. I guess thats what happens when you let stupid. MF's help you. Got to replace wiring harness, spark plug wires and positive and negative battery cables and thats about all i hope.
